Conceptual artist Sarah Charlesworth used image making as a way to investigate the role of photography in our society. In her haunting "Stills" series Charlesworth searched news archives to find imagery of people falling or jumping from buildings either in suicide or as escape from catastrophe, such as fire. She then rephotographed the images and presented them as large scale prints. This powerful series of photographs, as well as other series of her varied work, are currently on view at The New Museum in NYC. The exhibition is on display until Sept. 20, 2015.
