Digital Photo I: The Basics (9 Weeks)

With DAVID SAMUEL STERN

Who should take this class?

This introductory workshop is great for anyone who wants to discover the foundations and potential of digital photography.

What you will learn

Over several weeks we'll be covering all the nuts-to-bolts aspects of exposure, shutter speeds, aperture, ISO, depth of field, motion blur, as well as comparing different lenses and the basics of composition.  Class instruction strongly emphasizes technical understanding and operating in the field, with weekly assignments and critique.

Digital Photo I is a goal-oriented process. Students will learn how to use these skills towards their favorite type of photography and work to perfect their craft by creating a series of images. They will discuss, print, install and exhibit these photographs in a Student Show at the completion of the course.
