Essential Music & Live Event Photography (6 weeks)

With GRETCHEN ROBINETTE

Description

So you've gotten pretty good at using your camera, but you want to take the challenge even further.   Join us for this amazing class to help you gain confidence in fast-paced, high-pressure environments like concerts, live events, nightlife and quick-turnaround . photo journalism.  There's nothing like the thrill of working fast and on the clock, but there's a lot more to this type of work than just being there.

We'll show you how pros work the stage and scene, shooting under rapidly changing and less-than-ideal lighting conditions.  You'll get coached up on how to capture dynamic images across a range of situations, getting access and press passes, dealing with the various personalities you'll encounter like managers, agents and editors, as well as editing and delivering files according to industry protocol.  We'll talk about gear choices for working quickly and staying mobile: things like speedlight flash, lenses, memory cards and bags.  And we'll assign specific challenges for each student to put your new skills to the test!

Who should take this class?

Emerging photo journalists, music fanatics, party people, energy buffs, and thrill-seeking photographers looking to get better at working fast and under pressure.   With the rise of Social Media photography, opportunities abound for photographers who can produce strong images under a tight deadline.  Gaining these tools will help you stay prepared and locked-in for any situation or assignment, allowing you to better make the jump from casual hobbyist to paid photographer.
