IN-PERSON | Essential Portraiture (6 weeks)

Description

Everyone loves a good portrait. But in this photographic genre, there’s far more than meets the eye. Portraits can be symbolic, iconic, flattering or revealing. In addition to learning how, we also encourage you to wonder why.

This six-session, challenge-based course enhances your portrait skills through understanding and maximizing natural light, continuous (hot) lights, composition, lens effects, and working with human subjects. We'll delve deep into what it means to be creative in photographic portraiture, including how to overcome equipment limitations in the DIY studio, and develop basic post-production skills to complete the job.

Using live realtime demonstrations, guided feedback to exercises, screen-sharing for slides and illustrations, and weekly assignments, we’ll be shooting a lot and using our time for sharing ideas and getting creative, not just watching a screen.
