La Raiz
La Raiz (The Roots) is a captivating series that delves deep into the heart of my heritage, celebrating the cherished moments and the empowering women who have shaped my own experience. This series showcases three different generations through three different photo shoots, all inspired by the family gatherings I grew up going to. Raised in Pico Union by my mother alongside the help of her sisters has helped me gain an immense amount of inspiration. Today I dedicate this series to the Bautista Velasco family. I love you all so much.
La Raiz, la serie entra profundamente al corazón de mis raices, celebrando los momentos mas queridos y las mujeres luchonas que han dado forma a mi propia experiencia. Esta serie presenta tres generaciones a traves de tres sesiones de fotos inspiradas en las reuniones familiares a las que iba . Criada en Pico Union por mi madre con la ayuda de sus hermanas he obtenido una inmensa cantidad de inspiración. Hoy le dedico esta serie a la familia Bautista Velasco. Lxs quiero mucho.

About Melina
Melina Cruz Bautista is a full time non-traditional college student pursuing Digital Media and Social Justice Studies. In 2019 "Vida Con Mel" became an outlet to continue sharing a piece of who Melina is. This is more than just a project; it's a tribute to the past, a celebration of the present, and an inspiration for the future. Melina continues highlighting her families stories through photo series, documentary photography, podcasting through LA SERRANITA and in the near future -filmmaking. Welcome to Una Vida Con Mel!
Melina Cruz Bautista es una estudiante de tiempo completo estudiando Medios Digitales y Justicia Social. En el 2019, "Vida Con Mel" se convirtió en un medio para seguir compartiendo una parte de la vida personal de Melina. Esto va más allá de ser solo un proyecto; es un tributo al pasado, una celebración del presente y una inspiración para el futuro.
