Ad Locum Sacrum

This body of work was inspired by the process of learning to cope with chronic depression. Chronic depression can often lead to dissociation, which makes it difficult to be conscious in everyday life. These photos highlight a coping mechanism that those who struggle with depression may relate to; taking long baths. Bathing became a sacred place, to allow emotions, feelings, thoughts to come and go— a place that naturally alleviates the dissociation. The collection seeks to deepen understanding of depression and to help those who struggle with depression recognize that they have a community who can empathize.
